Meet Patricia Gallagher
“It’s time for kindness to bloom worldwide. Never underestimate how much one act of kindness can mean to someone.”
Patricia is just an ordinary woman. But some might say that her random acts of kindness ideas have made a huge difference for many people. She delivers surprise bouquets of fresh flowers, sparkly gold angel pins, food and fans, and a menagerie of endearing stuffed animals to those hurting or lonely in her community and beyond.
Patricia is the founder of four kindness projects. The Happy Flower Day Project delivered donations of 65,000 day-old bouquets to senior communities, hospitals, hospices, and people on the street. The Stuffed Animals for Seniors Project gave 11,000 new and gently-used stuffed animals to nursing home residents. The Send a Team of Angels to Help Movement gave 20,000 angel pins to our United States Armed Forces and thousands more to hospitals, shelters, support groups, and hospices. The Love Thy Norristown Neighbor Project is a unique mobile outreach program to bring fans, food, heaters, school supplies, blankets, diapers and clothes to families in need.

MY FAMILY
HOLIDAY INN SPONSORSHIP (1995)
“I was going on the road to promote one of my books, Raising Happy Kids on a Reasonable Budget. I contacted Holiday Inn and asked if they wanted to sponsor our trip. I explained that I was going to be speaking about Traveling with Kids as it related to the money-saving ideas in my book.
Since I was going to be interviewed by the media about Low–cost Family Vacation Ideas and General Tips for Traveling with Kids, Holiday Inn saw the merit of providing free hotel rooms for our trip.
The PR department sent us all kinds of Holiday Inn promotional items such as colorful visor hats, T-Shirts with the Holiday Inn logo and a magnetic sign for our van that said Kids Stay Free and Eat Free at Holiday Inn.
We actually did this two different times. We had a blast at the Sun Spree Resorts, Express and the Crown Plaza properties. My husband and I traveled to Scottsdale, Arizona to speak at the Innkeepers annual conference. We shared our experiences and what we observed, positive and negative, during our Holiday Inn stays.”

MY SECOND BOOK
“I ran a Mother’s Day Out program in my home to supplement my husband’s salary. After I had my third child, I decided I could either try to make more money or save money. I went to the McDonald and Burger King play areas and talked to other moms. I had my yellow pad and pen and asked them about all of the ways they saved money. I wrote all of their tips on my lined notebook and then found a publisher for my manuscript. Thus, my book Raising Happy Kids on a Reasonable Budget came about.” (Updated publication, 2023, option available for corporate sponsorship, customized for corporate need.)

MARKETING IDEA - EASTWIND AIRLINES
“I wrote a book titled Raising Happy Kids on a Reasonable Budget. My four kids were 6, 8, 11 and 14. They all wanted to go to Disney and I wanted to go, too. The airfare was pretty high – Philadelphia to Orlando. I contacted a bunch of airlines and asked if they wanted to “trade” 6 round trip airline tickets in exchange for copies of my book. I figured that they could put them in the pockets of the airline seats where they put the safety instructions. I had no takers. There was a small airline in NJ that wasn’t too far from my house so I drove there. I spoke to the marketing director and he wasn’t interested in the books. I said, “How about if I make an activity placemat for kids, like the kind they have at restaurants such as Denny’s and Friendly’s?” I designed a colorful, 2 -sided, 11 by 17 laminated placemat. The deal worked! We had airline fare covered, Holiday Inn Sun Spree Resort covered, and even managed to get free Disney World Day Hopper passes to four theme parks. (I bartered a few years later for a free family trip with Southwest Airlines.)
